It's Friday!!!

I love ESPN's commercials. The ones with athletes hanging around the office.

Check this one out with Arnold Palmer...so funny!

And here's another video to start your weekend off with a bang!
Charles Barkley's golf swing...

That should make you feel better about yourself.

Good luck on your tournaments this weekend, I hope you play better then Chuck...good for him for sticking it out though, right?

What do you think?
Is Charles Barkley is really that bad?
Or is he just pretending?

Spring 2012 Collection

Golf is in, and I'm not talking about just the golf course!
Golf was a major trend as many designers revealed their Spring 2012 collections.

The Runway
Prada's collection is a bit extreme...don't love all the fabric combinations ... but "dressful" isn't calling Prada's new line a golf parody for nothing. Check it out

Picture found here:http://www.dressful.com/5699/prada-mens-spring-summer-2012-golf-parody

Now I could get used to this ... the women's "golf" trend for the spring.
Who doesn't love a good trench coat, not to mention the cute pom-pom golf cap that accessorizes it perfectly!

I even like the backpack in the middle, I have a feeling you wouldn't have a hard time finding that if you had to check it at the airport!

The outfit on the left ... uh, I can do without! Especially those shoes.
I'm kind of a shoe snob. If you don't believe me ask my husband!

My husband and I are moving to Connecticut in the spring, so I'm really excited that golf happens to be a trend. I have a feeling people dress a little more preppy in CT then they do in Utah. I'm getting my son ready with a wardrobe filled with collar shirts and vests.
Like this:

Oh so excited!!!

What do you think? Would you rock the outfit on the right?

Advice To Golf Widows

1) Is your husband/boyfriend a huge golfer?
2) Does your weekend revolve around his golf schedule?
3) Do you determine where you're going on vacation based on a golf course, or a PGA event?

If none of the above apply, please don't ever, I mean ever, complain about how much golf he plays...because you don't know the half of it. haha, just teasing.

If you said yes to any of the above I feel your pain ;)

Regardless of whether they apply or not I have some advice for all you "golf widows"

***When you talk to your husband and he's golfing don't yell at him because he's golfing***

If you think girls are the only ones who "gossip" with their friends, you're wrong. Guys do too...on the golf course! Not the same extent, or nearly as much as a couple of girlfriends having lunch, but there's definitely talk here and there. If you yell at him because he's playing golf, his buddies can hear you. And even if they can't hear you they know something's wrong because he was playing awesome on the first 9, and all of a sudden (after talking to you) he's rushing through and shanking every hit. The other 3 guys are going to notice how you like to call and get mad at him...and they wont think you're very nice. And then do you know what will happen? Next time you call while he's golfing, he wont tell you he's golfing! That's right, he'll lie to you! Because who wants their wife/girlfriend mad at them? They most certainly don't!

Here's my situation, my husband tells me before he goes out to the golf course. If I need him to come home before he does! If I don't I'm more than happy for him to go hit a few balls after a long day at work.

However, he does NOT come home and then go to the golf course. No, no, that doesn't work! That's when I feel resentful toward golf.

Do what works for you. Maybe you want him to come home first. If that's the case, let him know that, and let him know why. I'm sure he'd be happy to oblige.

...if you need to work on your communication skills with your significant other start with golf. It may surprise you how other things fall into place...

Moral of the story:
Don't yell at him while he's playing golf with his friend, and
Don't lie about playing golf!

The Golf Widow

I have learned to make the best of being a golf widow. One way has been to spend my husband's money...his winnings money that is!

I'm not giving him enough credit, most the time when he gets me something with his winnings money it's a surprise. He knows what I like and he does a fine job of getting it for me.

Here are my tips for you men out there who have made your wife a "golf widow"
These tips may just help you enough to get her out on the course playing with you
Then you can hone your caddy skills as you teach her the art of golf!

Learn her style
What if she doesn't have a style you say? Well keep reading...

Get her something you like and personalize it for her
Start out with something small, like a hat. What's your favorite golf brand? Titleist, TaylorMade, NIKE? Get her a hat with your favorite logo, in her favorite color.

Keep her in mind while you're playing
While you're playing you come across a lot of abandoned golf balls, am I right? What do you do with the ones that are girly? ya know, the pink and purple ones. Do you see how far you can throw them? See how many times you can make them skip on the water? Or maybe you tee them up and hit them into the water.

Well stop it! Pick them up and put them in your bag. When you get home say, look what I found you! Girls like to know their being thought of, even when you are on the golf course with the guys!

See you guys can learn a thing or two on this too!

My Favorite...putters

Titleist JUST came out with a new line of Scotty Cameron California putters...check them out on their website here. I'm just waiting for my husband to come home and tell me how badly he needs one! Do you know what I'll say to that? ...sounds like you need to win another tournament honey! :)

I love Scotty Cameron putters. Now you may be a little confused since I have complained talked about clothes being expensive recently. Ya, Scotty Cameron putters are on the more expensive side, but they are SWEET! Have you seen the My Girl collection? Who doesn't like their hardware to be on the unique side? I know I sure do. I used to use my husband's Scotty Cameron, and then he decided he wanted to use it again, typical! So now I use a Nike putter that he fit and personalized for me.

Check this puppy out!

LOVE

I'm easy to please...can you tell? All it takes is a little pizazz...or pink...and I'm sold!
Now I still represent a little Scotty Cameron, it's just not in my bag.

It's on the back window of my car

What's your favorite kind of putter?

Golf Fitness

How can I improve my overall golf performance through fitness and play with more consistency you ask?

The Titleist Performance Institute is a great place to start. Their website MyTPI.com has local certified instructors you can find under the "find an expert" tab. The My TPI program has years of research and involvement with Titleist touring professionals and they understand the best ways to work on fitness as it relates to golf. You can also get information from their TV show on The Golf Channel called Golf Fitness Academy.

Another place you can find information on golf fitness is from The Grind. On their website you can compare your swing with Nike pros and even your friends.

You can get personalize golf training and nutrition information on both websites by becoming a registered member, which is free.

As if that wasn't enough, you can link up to their YouTube Channels and check out even more videos.
myTPI's Channel
Nike Golf's Channel

Check out their websites! You can find out a lot of really great information on them! Way more than I could ever share with you on one post.

Or if you want to talk to a real person check out The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital's program here. Their instructors are TPI Certified.

Tomorrow...

I'll share with you how you can improve your overall golf performance through fitness!
AND play with more consistency...

Why Is It...

Why is it so hard to find golf clothes that fit? Rarely can I walk into a pro shop and find something that fits. Let alone something that's half way decent. And did I mention that the only reason I would ever buy clothes in a pro shop is if my husband had money there...boy are they expensive!!! I'm 5'7" and a buck 25, so I'm on the skinnier side and the best place for me is the Nike Outlet Store...other than that I'm out of luck! Come on Under Armour, Puma, Adidas, etc, don't you want to dress me too? Why aren't your clothes more accessible for women like me? All I want is a cute outfit that isn't going to cost me an arm and a leg. I'm fine buying clothes online, it's just nice to know what my size is first. So thank you Nike Outlet Store, I really appreciate it!
(I do have to give Dick's props though.)

I think I'm going to start rocking the Polo Dress, I never see them

What do you like to rock out on the golf course?
Are you low key? Or do you like to stand out?

Ian Poulter prefers the latter !!!

Did you know he has his own clothing line?
Phenomenal!

Or maybe you like to wear the same thing over, and over, and over again...

About Me

This was me on our Honeymoon
(...yes we went golfing on our honeymoon...I'm a pretty cool wife)

That's our house in the background, I married a keeper! ;)
well actually it's the clubhouse at Classic Club in Palm Springs, CA
But I did marry a keeper!

I am fairly new to the game of golf. I met my husband in the fall so I didn't know the true meaning of these three little words..."I'm a golfer." Everyone said, you know him in the fall and winter, but you don't know him in the summer. Boy were they right! Every year I am reminded again and again what it means to be the wife of a golfer! I'm just glad we live in Utah and not Arizona!!! I enjoy golf every now and then, but I'm more of a "let me drive the cart" kind of a girl.
And then he got me!
He gradually started buying me golf equipment. It started with his Nana giving me her set of clubs that she didn't use anymore. A pair of Nike golf shoes with a baby blue swoosh. Then we happened to be in Dick's and I saw a pink argyle skirt I had to have...it was cancer awareness month, and I had to support, right? One fateful afternoon he won a golf tournament, and with some of his winnings he bought me a Titleist golf bag...which happened to be pink too! That led to a sweet Black Clover putter cover. Done. I had to go golfing now!
Sweet shoes (check)
Cute outfit (check)
Cute bag (check)
Awesome putter cover (check, check, check)
...oh ya, I had clubs too...you need those!

Being married to a golfer is one thing. Being married to a GOOD golfer, who actually knows what he's doing is quite another. If he's going to spend so much of his spare time on the golf course he better be good at it, that's for sure!
Now I must admit I'm still not an avid golfer, but I love a good excuse to wear a cute outfit, and let me tell you golf is a perfect excuse to wear a cute outfit! ...I'm thinking of picking up tennis too!
